Any information on how to disassemble and replace the electric motor and bearings? Where can I get a replacement motor?
ReplyDeleteHI Casey-
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Ego does not offer a replacement motor (at least not yet). The only parts available directly through their website are the battery, blade, and charger, and the mower's parts list mentions more parts but not the motor itself or internal motor parts.
The service manual does not seem to be available online, but if I come across any information on this mower I'll be sure to post it here.
The power switch failed on my LM2000. Push in the plastic key, pull the lever, nothing happens. Doesn't seem to be available as a replacement part.
ReplyDeleteHi Phil-
DeleteUnfortunately Ego doesn't sell many replacement parts for the LM2000. Their website lists some replacement accessories (charger, battery, etc.) but no real "parts" other than the blade.
If you can find a local mower shop that will work on it, you may be able to get the switch or wiring repaired.
So is EGO suggesting, by the lack of these replacement parts, that its time to buy a new mower?
DeleteCarl-
DeleteIt definitely seems that way... replace rather than repair.
Starts okay. Then Dies after around 5 seconds. What do I need to do to fix it?
ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteMy ego starts well but after 5 seconds dies on me.
Not battery has just been recharged.
What do I need to do?
Often a problem like that originates in the carburetor. If your model has a primer bulb, try this:
Delete- Prime the mower
- Start the mower
- Push the primer bulb repeatedly
If the mower keeps running as long you push the primer bulb, then dies as soon as you stop, there is probably an issue with fuel getting from the carb to the combustion chamber.
If you can get a carb rebuild kit for your model -- which may not be likely since Ego doesn't make a lot of replacement parts available -- clean and rebuild the carb. If you can't get a rebuild kit, clean it with a carb cleaner spray.
While you're cleaning the carb, it's a good idea to empty the gas tank and fuel line and clean those as well. When you fill it back up, make sure to use an additive like Sea Foam or an ethanol neutralizer (i.e. Lucas Oil Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner) to reduce the effects of alcohol in the gasoline.
EGO is an electric, priming is unlikely to work, if you could find a primer.
DeleteHm, I definitely was not thinking right that day.
DeleteMy Ego is doing the same thing and the yellow light starts flashing. Did you find out how to fix it? Donna
DeleteMine does the same thing. Did you find a fix?
Deletehas anyone found a solution to the problem of the motor not starting on the ezgo 21 self propelled...….showing a yellow light instead of green when trying to start?
DeleteAny info on how to repair the SELF PROPEL feature, it stopped working, hoping is detached cable?
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
DeleteEGO doesn't make any service manuals available, but that seems to be a common problem with EGO mowers. Some other posts about the same problem:

has anybody had an issue with speed control, mine seems to have only three positions. Very slow, slow walk, and fast. With nothing in between. should it be like this?
ReplyDeleteMine was doing the same thing, and I got it to work properly by moving the switch (speed control) through its full range over and over for a minute or two. Also sprayed a little WD40 in it as best I could.
DeleteMy 21" 56v won't start. Battery is 100%. All I get is a flashing green light every 6 seconds when I attempt to start it. Thoughts?

I loved the carburetor solution. Maybe it's time to go back to the gas models. Anyway, here's my problem. If any of you have a solution, please comment:
ReplyDeleteWhen the handle is fully extended on my LM2101SP, the mower runs at full speed only. The control lever does nothing. However, when I lock the handle in the half-way position, the speed control lever performs perfectly, providing the full speed range. Seems like the module that tells the lawn mower that the handle is fully extended is causing it to run at highest speed only.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any repair suggestions? Thanks.
replace the wire from the handle to the middle of the handle there is a broke wire there
DeleteOne other note: Had service replace the speed control rheostat and nothing changed, indicating that the problem is not the speed control unit itself.
ReplyDeletereplace the wire from the top of the handle to the middle the is a broke wire in it
ReplyDeleteI've got a broken rear discharge door, and a replacement. But, I can't figure out how to take apart the mower. Anyone got ideas?
ReplyDeleteMy Ego 21" self-propelled mower has power to drive the wheels, but the blade won't go. The battery is good and I checked all of the safety switches bale/blade start switch, handle extension switch and handle position switch). I also checked the fuse in the motor compartment. The motor that drives the wheels works fine, but the headlights don't come on when the headlight button is pressed. I suspect the problem is in the circuitry in the motor housing rather than the safety interlock wiring.
ReplyDeleteI called Ego Customer Service and waited an hour, finally selecting the option to enter my number for a representative to call me back, but never got a call back. Does anyone know if they have service centers to do repairs?
