Briggs & Stratton 491588S air filter at Amazon

Amazon is currently selling the Briggs & Stratton 491588S flat air filter (for B&S Quantum engines, among others) for just $5.50 (and free shipping).  If your mower uses this air filter, now may be a good time to stock up on a couple.  The list price is $13.99, even though you can typically find them for much less than that.  As a comparison, SearsPartsDirect.com currently has it for $7.49, and LawnMowerPros.com sells it for $6.95.

The only catch is that these air filters are part of Amazon's Add-on program, which means you'll need to order at least $25 worth of stuff from Amazon (including the price of the air filter) in order to get the air filter shipped, but it will ship for free.  So for example, you could order five of these filters, but if you only ordered four you'd need to add something else to reach the $25 threshold.

Masport mower manuals

Finding Masport mower manuals online can be difficult.  You may be able to get an owner's manual from the Masport website's manuals page, but you'll need to have a username and password.  If all you need is an illustrated parts list, you can download one for many Masport models on the illustrated parts list page, without having to log in.

John Deere maintenance reminder sheets

John Deere makes a very useful document, called a maintenance reminder sheet, for many of its products.  This one-page PDF file is a good reference for maintaining your mower.  It contains part numbers and locations for commonly-replaced parts (such as oil filters, fuel filters, spark plugs, and blades) as well as service recommendations, compatible accessories, and links to online JD resources.  At the bottom it will also typically list the part number for the JD maintenance kit for that mower.

Briggs & Stratton 498260 carb rebuild kit on sale at Amazon

Amazon changes its prices every now and then on many items.  Right now, Amazon has a Briggs & Stratton carb rebuild kit, part #498260, for only $6.49.  That's a pretty good deal.  The list price is $14.99, and I paid over $10 for it -- on Amazon -- only a month or two ago.  If you use that kit often (it fits the 498170 carb, among others) or you think you might need it soon, consider picking one or two up now before the price goes back up.  It's also eligible for free shipping (if you spend at least $25).
